Let’s talk about the word brilliance for a moment, because I think we’ve done it a disservice.

Somewhere along the way, “brilliant” became a word we reserved for the Einsteins and the prodigies, the people whose names end up on plaques. We categorized it “not for everyday use,” and we certainly didn’t apply it to ourselves. Because that would be boastful, right?

Let’s reframe that idea.

A diamond doesn’t brag when it refracts light. It doesn’t broadcast its brilliance or apologize for how many facets it has. It simply is what it is; and the light does the rest. Brilliance isn’t something the diamond performs. It’s something the diamond can’t help but shine, because of how it was made, how it was formed and how it was cut.

You are no different.

Coach2Strengths Quote

Your brilliance is the way you see a solution three steps before anyone else sees there’s a problem. It’s the way you hold a room, or encourage a friend, without even trying. It’s your strange, specific alchemy of strengths, intellect and heart that no one else on earth carries in quite the same combination. You have facets; as an entrepreneur, a leader, your lived experience and every single one of them catches light differently.

Here’s the part where we get off track: we think brilliance is something we have to earn. We try to prove it enough times, achieve enough, accumulate enough evidence and then maybe we’re allowed to claim it. But brilliance was never a reward for good behavior, a blue ribbon or gold star. It’s not something you unlock as you advance in your career.

And that’s exactly what the sea of sameness asks of you. It doesn’t ask you to fail; it asks you to blend in. To soften your edges until you’re smooth enough, safe enough, palatable enough to “get along”, without making waves. It rewards you for matching, not for standing out. And so you dim, one small accommodation at a time, until the very thing that made you magnetic gets compartmentalized as “too much.”

Here’s what the sea of sameness doesn’t tell you: your voice was never built for everyone. It was built for someone a very specific, someone who is out there right now, needing exactly what you offer. Your brilliance isn’t an accessory. It’s a signal. It’s a frequency tuned to reach the people who are waiting for precisely your combination of strengths, values, perspective and your precise way of saying the thing nobody else will say.

And a dimmed signal doesn’t fail loudly. That’s the sneaky part. It just… doesn’t reach as far. The ripple you were designed to send out into the world, the one meant to reach clients, colleagues, create a legacy gets smaller. Quieter. It ebbs before it was ever supposed to stop.

So the real cost of dimming isn’t just how it feels on the inside: the exhaustion, the flatness, the low hum of is this really it?Brilliance Isn't a Compliment. It's a Fact. It’s what never got accessed or activated. The client who needed exactly your perspective, wisdom and voice settled with someone else’s watered-down version instead. The impact that could have rippled for years, petered out before the shore.

Embodying your brilliance isn’t bragging. It’s not even really a choice, once you have an internal awareness. It’s simply embodying the obvious and letting your specific, unmatchable frequency reach the people it was built to find.

If you’re ready to stop dimming and start leading with what’s actually right with you, I’d love to talk. Let’s find the facets that are ready to catch the light and build the path that lets your ripple extend as far as it was always meant to.
